Nagarkot hilltop is 37 km drive away from Kathmandu Nagarkot offers vantage views of the Himalayan range including, on a clear day, Mt. Everest. “The Tea House” is situated atop the hill and offers a wide range of food and drink. On Return we trek down to Sankhu; visit Newari village to explore the culture. And, sightseeing at Bouddha Nath- Probably the largest stupa in the world is also found in Kathmandu valley – the great stupa of Boudhanath. Again the omni-present eyes of the Buddha stare at all directions. This stupa is the place of worship of Tibetan Buddhists predominantly.
Nagarkot’ Changunarayan hiking is a excellent walking day walking tour in the outskirt of Kathmandu valley. If you have just a day in Kathmandu and looking for easy day hike then this Nagarkot Changunarayan day hiking trip is the best option to get awasy from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. The great amazing thing is to see how the local villages along the trail still exhibit countryside lifestyle even though being so close to city. The first part of the hiking is an cultural encounter while the second part is more natural as the trail follows the ridge with deciduous forest. The Himalayas appear undisturbed. The walking is easy with gradual downhill and fairly leveled path. It will take about 4 hrs to reach Changunarayan,the oldest pagoda style Hindu temple in Nepal. After visiting this UNESCO world heritage site and talking Lunch we take drive back to Kathmandu to end our a day long hiking tour in Kathmandu.

My girlfriend and I just came back from the Ghorepani Trek (Poon Hill) that we did in 4 days (it can be difficult for people who are not in good shape since two of these days are 15 KM/7.5 hours walk per day without speaking of the ascent).
A great experience from the beginning! We looked for some thing off the beaten path and the Model Trek was it. We saw no fellow tourists during our camping portion of the trip ! Just locals Our guide, cook and porters were very good and friendly.
It was a truly great experience. 14 days of pure joy despite some cloudy days (monsoon…). The views from the Thorung La pass (5416m) were just incredible, and some of the villages on the route were magnificent (most notably Upper Pisang and Kagbeni)
