Miguel Bastos - Portugal
Hi all,
I have just arrived from a trek in upper mustang with Jomson treks. The organization was all done by email with Guru and what I liked was the fact that I always had quick responses to my emails and I was able to choose my own circuit without feeling I was being manipulated to go for a standard trek (as I felt with other companies before). This way I returned via Yara and Tangge instead of coming back through the same trail. Guru was very helpful in his advice in particular to warn me that depending on the water levels we might need a horse to cross the river from Yara to Tangge. Fortunately we managed to cross it on feet with the great help of Dal, our guide, and Harkla (not sure how it is spelled, sorry!) our porter. Dal and Harkla were very nice trekking companions. Dal is a competent guide, very funny and with a good understanding of the western tourist mindset and Harkla is a very kind porter, speaking good English. I liked that Guru was explicit on the rule that the porter should not carry more than 15kg. This is very important for me and shows how Guru has grasped the sensitivities of the western tourist as this is not common practice in all trek companies. The fact that the porter was carrying the same load as I was means he can be a part of the trek end enjoy it with you. This kept the trekking a whole more pleasant as everyone could communicate while walking.
In conclusion: a fantastic trek with great company and professional guidance. I don’t hesitate therefore in recommending Jomson treks for your treks in the Annapurna region.
Regards to all !
